but useless at least Joe could be the voice of reason, Matt's the leader's foil, Sora's the tomboy, Tai's the leader, TK and Kairi are the awesome kids, and Izzy's the genius Mimi was... idk

The only anime I ever watched in subs was Death Note and it was pretty good. It was just as good
As the dub though IMO. I just don't like listening to the Japanese voices in subs all the time. It kinda annoys me.
