"Don't cry" the voice chirped from behind her. She stopped mid-sob and turned slightly.
"T.K… What're you doing here?" Kari asked slowly, wiping a tear and sniffling
"I heard crying when I was walking into the sweet shop and knew it wouldn't be from inside" T.K explained with a smile, sitting next to Kari
"Was it really that bad?" Kari sniffled
"Erm…" he saw the sadness in Kari's face "No, of course not!" he grinned and hugged her a little. "So come on, tell me what it was that has been bothering you this much?"
"I'm not sure I feel like it T.K"
"Okay, we'll just watch the sun go down, then, mkay?"
"Sounds good"
They sat and watch as the amber tones merged into the reds like a pile of autumn leaves until it faded and darkness set in. "Hey T.K?" Kari whispered as her head rested on his chest
"Yeah, Kari?"
"Thanks"
"For what?"
"Being here" Kari lifted her head and moved to kiss him.
Hey, Kari, no! You can't do that, you're with Davis!" T.K protested, moving backwards. As he finished he saw Kari's eyes shake slightly "You're not with him anymore, are you?"
"… No." Kari mumbled, turning back away and looking out across the city with her legs tucked into her chest
"Well he's an idiot for letting you go" T.K insisted, placing his arm on her shoulder
"What about you saying no, what does that make you?" Kari spat, scornfully
"Kari, I'm a friend. That's all I can ever be. Once you've gone there you can't go back, you should know that by now" T.K spoke with a stern tone as he felt his heart tremble
"Who said I wanted to go back after!" Kari growled, spinning to face him
"Kari, come on…"
"I'm going" Kari announced, grabbing her coat she walked past T.K and to the fire exit ladder on the side of the building. T.K watched her go and regretted what he'd said. She looked at him, her face softening "Thanks again" she added, before leaving.
