I think they just wanted to try something different and it worked with tamers so they tried frontier and it slowly descended.
If they had done another adventure slightly more in the future it would have been great. Then maybe tamers and tamers 2 after. It'd be massively successfull still if they had.

I totally agree with that. Adventure shouldve gone on for one more season and Tamers shouldve had a sequel season. It wouldve been amaaaazing..... |

not really cartoons aren't as popular as they used to be if they had a successful video game franchise that would be another story

I liked the original games for ps1 but after that they just used a basic formula.

Video games is the only area where Digimon is seriously lacking, everything else is pretty legit.
